Desmond in the process of leaving, is being told by the abbot of some great as yet unrealized destiny his life has in store for him and. As they cut back and forth between Desmond and the Abbot, on the Abbot’s desk there is a picture of him with Ms. Hawkins who in an earlier flashback explained to Desmond what his destiny held for him.
